Are there any bards in the house tonight? I need a hand composing an email reply in middle english. (I got told off by some 15-year-old script kiddie for speaking in 'oldie english' instead of 'like modern' when I asked him to translate an email he wrote me entirely in text-message code. Time to show him what 'oldie english' really is.)

We took Jenny to the Canada Day parade today (Hi, JJ! We waved, but you didn't see us! :D ) And Rich took some video on his cell phone (we have conceded - we badly need a camcorder, preferably a little one, with a flash drive. Any suggestions/'avoid this one's?) of her with her flags:

Rich has today and tomorrow off work for the long weekend, but Jenny's day care was open today, so... I played hooky from working on the Nut builds and we had a grownup date day. Rich dropped Jenny off with Shirl in the morning as always, but then he came back here and we hung out for a while. Ran some errands, got a package mailed off to my SIL & co and went for burgers, then we WENT TO A MOVIE. IN A THEATRE. TOGETHER. And saw Iron Man, which was excellent fun. And for the post-credits ending (which I'd managed not to be spoiled on) - SQUEEE!

After that we ended up down on Quinpool, and swung in to Video Difference to pick up Spiderman 3 (which I'm not expecting much out of, but hey. We haven't seen it yet and we're in a Marvel Comics kind of mood today), and since Adept was also open, I got my eighth piercing. I've been meaning to get one done to mark Jenny's birth for ages, but I had to be done breastfeeding first, and then I was never downtown when Utility was open/the piercer was working. But Adept had some really nice jewelry (though not as wide a selection as Utility, what they did have was half the price), the place was sterile, the piercer very professional, and I'm overall very happy with the results.

Then we picked up the bunny from day care, swung back here and had dinner (noodles! with sauce! Such baby glee!), and now I can hear her giggling away as Rich gets her from bathtub to jammies.

I can't express how good it feels to have spent a day just hanging out with my boy. I love Jenny more than words can ever express, and I enjoy her very much, but every once in a while, you need some grownups-only time. And today was just about perfect.

We have a new niece! Rich's sister had her second child - and second daughter - this afternoon! Erica Lee [Last name] is 7 lb 12 oz, and everyone is doing well! We were expecting her to share her birthday with Jenny, but she had other ideas! SIL ended up being induced last night after a scary blood pressure spike, but it sounds like everything was textbook after that.

Rich already did one of these in his journal, but we have some non-overlapping friends. So, Happy Birthday to our baby toddler, Jenny! A year ago this time, I had finally gotten my epidural. :P Chocolate cake photos to follow tonight.

My, how you've grown!

No, not us, we're coming up on five years hitched in August. But good friends of ours murray1066 and astula just eloped yesterday. We got a call this morning to come to an impromptu reception, and so we ignored the errands we'd planned and had a much more entertaining afternoon partying with the gang. Buttershots are evil. That is all.
